I found online dating to be very time consuming. It’s a lot of emailing, and telephoning, meeting for coffee, etc. And you have to go through a lot of guys until you meet a likely one. The when you do meet the a good prospect, its still time consuming – late nights the phone, sneaking back form his place at 5 am so your teenage kids won’t notice you were gone, planning trips, dates etc. I’m between relationships right now and it opens up a lot of space to be.

I think it’s okay to be alone and relish your time alone. To putter around and get housework and weeding done and get aught up on yo paying your bills. This sounds bring but i I think we need the slow times in our life too.

Sheri, Julie, Party Girl: I don’t disagree it is better to spend Friday nights alone than with someone like that. But all my Friday nights are alone (or at least dateless) and have been for a long, long, long time. That is discouraging and, at times, depressing, to be quite honest.

That said, my dateless nights are extremely productive and/or I only have to worry about me being the one to change the channel on the TV

We all have/had Friday nights like that. Spending a Fri night by yourself is preferable to spending it with some loser, like the half-naked man.

It seems you’re not the only one hiding from half-naked man. I recently saw the auto aficionado at his place of business and unfortunately he spotted me in the waiting area. Lucky for me, he was wearing a shirt at the time!

Allision and Irene: Yes, it takes all kinds, doesn't it? And, yes, I know several couples who have met online. I've done online dating many times over the last 5 years and have tried different sites with mixed results. Match.com by far was the best "match" for me. e-Harmony not so much, as I wrote about in two posts: here and here .

Haha–what is wrong with that guy? It’s sad to think that men think that women will be “won over” by a nice brag about money and whatever else they have to brag about. You’re right: yawn.

On another topic, I actually know a married couple who met on eHarmony. So random, but they are SO right for eachother. It’s really a miracle, because they are both *really* difficult people.

Judy: Thank you for the laugh this morning, especially because my coffee hasn’t quite kicked in yet!

T: I absolutely agree — when the kids are happy, everyone is happy…or at least it leaves me feeling more sane. I have a busy day ahead of me — soccer for the kids, treating myself to a manicure/pedicure, an errand or two, and writing. But tonight I’m gong to dinner with some friends. Granted, I’ll be the only singleton (as usual), but it will be fun nonetheless.
