I’ve been back at work for 2 days now. Oh, man. I’m a hard worker, but it’s been tough going back.
One of the first emails I saw on Tuesday morning was from our department secretary with a warning about the kitchenette on our floor. I wish I had saved it, but it was something [...]

As you know, I love checking my blog stats almost as much as I love a good spammy email (although, frankly, my interest in those is steadily waning — maybe this means I’m getting a life in 2008??). I’m always curious how new readers find my site. Yesterday, someone typed this into their handy search [...]

I love that young children see differences between people — shapes, sizes, personality traits, colors, body parts, quirks and features — as facts, or curiosities. They don’t see them as being “good” or “bad”.
I wish we would all act like children more often.
Thanks to Elizabeth for finding the link below. I love listening to Patty [...]

Tomorrow I have to go back to work after more than a week off. Here’s what I’ve learned in the last 10 days:
I would not hesitate for one nanosecond if I was told I could quit corporate life and still have a legal way to pay my bills and keep health insurance.
I need a [...]

Today I was in the eyeglass store getting new, NON-prescription lenses put into my lovely and too-expensive-to toss Maui Jim sunglasses. As I looked around at the displays of designer funky-hip-pretty-cool frames, I said to the girl helping me, “You know, they never made these kinds of glasses when I was growing up…”
She told me [...]

My junk email and spam filters seem to be doing a good job these days.
Sigh.
It’s just not the same as before — the times when I could write long posts about the Penis Enlarge Patch, dreaming of the day I could get freelance work writing taglines for the PEP boys.
BTW, if you missed the comment [...]

You, my dear readers, have the fortune — or misfortune — that I am off of work this week and, having given up the idea of watching the 92 other early episodes of Lost to catch up before the new season begins, AND procrastinating working on my query letter and book synopsis, I have [...]

Two nights ago I blew my no potty mouth resolution big time. It was 2 a.m. and I couldn’t get comfortable AT ALL wearing my plastic post-op sleep goggles and trying to fall asleep on my back. Every time I’d drift off I’d feel that sensation of falling and jerk awake. It didn’t help matters [...]
