Lost in Love

May 29, 2008

Dear Writers of the TV Series Lost:
After watching another season I’m convinced you all are crazier than the look in Benjamin Linus’s eyes.

But that’s why I adore you so.
(Ben, too — oh, how he’s grown on me!…although I’d pass up crazy-eyes any day for a swim with Sawyer. Meow.)
Thanks for another fun, bizarre season.
Best Regards,
Susan

First date and the horse’s ass

May 25, 2008

Friday night I did something many of my friends and coworkers thought unthinkable: I met people I DIDN’T KNOW for dinner — a group of moms who blog in or around our dear city. (Or is it a group of bloggers who happen to be moms?)
Get. Out. People you don’t know?!
Well, call me crazy — [...]

I lost my inner peace with my car keys

May 25, 2008

I decided to do a little Krispy Kreme run for breakfast this morning. Yes, I know. I know the donuts are globules of sugar and lard (but 0% trans fat!). Yes, I know they aren’t exactly the breakfast of champions. But we haven’t been there in months and the kids press their faces against the [...]

Great way to start the weekend

May 23, 2008

As part of my site redesign, Cindy of Big Big Design (and our blogging friend at My Brilliant Mistakes) hooked me up with all sorts of nifty analytics tools to track traffic coming to and going from One-Woman Show. I’m telling you - HOURLY stats, y’all. (Like I need to become more obsessive.) Anyway, I’m avoiding [...]

Elizabeth at Love, Elizabeth tagged me for this — it’s a good one and easy! Here are the rules:

Pick up the nearest book.
Open to page 123.
Locate the fifth sentence.
Post the next three sentences on your blog and in so doing…
Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged me.

One small step for mankind, one giant leap for me

May 17, 2008

Conference Synopsis:
Well, I wasn’t selected to pitch to the one agent I mentioned in my last post — she saw only a handful of people — but I DID get the opportunity to pitch to another agent this morning. Our ten minute session was done before I knew it, but I was fairly relaxed and [...]

Ten years

May 14, 2008

This morning I had my photo taken (blech) in honor of my tenth year at my company. I can’t believe I’m still here; it just isn’t something I expected, since I had been averaging about 3 years with my previous employers. When I think about it, a lot has happened in this time:

worked in 3 [...]

Forget all that sappy stuff I wrote in my earlier post about Mother’s Day.
Holy mother of madness.
That’s all I can say about this one.
Pregnant for more than 11 of her 41 years? Does she just burp and they fall out? Would it have been so bad to pick a different letter for each of the [...]

Defining Mom

May 10, 2008

In case you haven’t seen or heard the zillions of jewelry, flower, and card commercials, tomorrow is Mother’s Day. I love being a mom… but to be honest, Mother’s Day has traditionally been a bit bittersweet for me. In fact, my first Mother’s Day after my divorce was the hardest holiday to get through in [...]

iPod irony

May 7, 2008

Like most days, I was listening to my iPod in the car on the way into work. (Through the car speakers, people, the speakers!) I was tired and a tad cranky from being up late working on a few projects, and then getting up early to do more work. Apparently the little computer chip in [...]
