Good news:
I received a request for my full manuscript from a second agent. Woohoo!
Bad news:
I haven’t figured out how to clone myself…and I still have a few more chapters to go with the polishing.
Good news:
I’ve matured tremendously (cough, cough) in the 2 weeks since turning 40, so I now accept that I can’t do – and shouldn’t attempt to [...]

The kids’ first day of school is tomorrow. Wow, I can’t believe summer is almost over! While I dread the mounds of papers I’ll undoubtedly have to read and fill out over the next two weeks, I’m looking forward to a set routine and schedule — two things that will make this single mama’s life a whole lot easier. [...]

A few months ago I joined FaceBook and MySpace to catch up with friends old and new, and to do a little networking with other writers. I took a chance and contacted a local author, Philip Beard, to introduce myself. Well, what do you know? Not only did Philip agree to connect with me, he sent me [...]

I realize I’ve been remiss in blogging since the month began, but it really hasn’t been by design. I’ve been polishing my manuscript instead [...]

Single parents, you can check out my latest take (or should I say “take out”?!) in my column, Dinner for One, at The Imperfect Parent.
(Oh, and you can, too, Mom.)
Cheers!

(Hint: That would be all of you parents.)
If you haven’t checked out The Imperfect Parent yet, now is the time. It’s one of my favorite parenting sites because it doesn’t shy away from today’s issues but never loses its sense of humor. As the site’s creators describe, "The Imperfect Parent is an online magazine for [...]

Over the weekend I finished revising and sprucing up my query letter, synopsis and first three chapters of my manuscript — again…I think I’m up to at least my fifth draft. Today I mailed the package to the agent I pitched to a few weeks ago. Wow – what a feeling… of panic, then calm, then full-blown anxiety:
Susan thinking to [...]

[Social Networking - Take Two]
Well, I asked for it. I’m searchable now on MyWTF, all right — and getting some interesting friend requests. Hmmm. I suppose I should be flattered, but when a guy with only symbols, no letters, in his screen name contacts me, or a married guy emails me “your hot!!!!!!!!!“ I’m just [...]

Conference Synopsis:
Well, I wasn’t selected to pitch to the one agent I mentioned in my last post — she saw only a handful of people — but I DID get the opportunity to pitch to another agent this morning. Our ten minute session was done before I knew it, but I was fairly relaxed and [...]

So I started reading The War of Art by Steven Pressfield yesterday over lunch.
Wow!
I owe those of you who recommended it a big thank you. It’s definitely the kick I need, and I’d recommend it if you feel “stuck” in how to pursue a creative project, dream job, new business venture, or even personal wellness [...]
